Philosophy:
We desire to see our youth saved and
sanctified. We long to see them grow as followers of Christ who are
pursuing radical holiness and striving to spread the message of the
gospel to the lost world around them.
We believe in the legitimacy of a ministry
directed to youth. However, we also desire to guard ourselves against
some of the dangers of traditional youth ministry. We believe that our
ministry to youth must not come at the expense of the biblical priorities
for youth.
First, this means that we emphasize the
development of and primacy of a genuine discipleship relationship between
students and their parents. We call students and parents to fulfill
God’s design in this regard and look to see this happen by equipping
parents and students and by facilitating interaction between them.
Second, this means that we call for the
practical and real involvement of students in the whole body of Christ.
A believing student is first and foremost a part of the church, not
the youth ministry. In addition to other areas of service and involvement
we desire and expect to see every youth involved in and participating
in a Grace Group with their family.
Small Groups:
In seeking to minister strategically to
our youth we have come to the conclusion that small groups for guys
and girls are the most effective venue.. During these times we have
the opportunity to study Scripture, pray for each other, and share life
together. These groups are most profitable when students are eager to
grow and learn about the glories of the gospel and what it means to
live it out.
Parent Training and Equipping:
In view of our belief that both biblically
and practically parents and the most important influences in their the
lives of their students we seek to equip and train parents in fulfilling
their responsibilities in this realm. This takes place through periodic
training classes and through the encouragement of discipleship relationships
among parents.
Other Activities:
In addition to these consistent and core
activities we also seek to provide monthly events for the purpose of
relational development, occasional retreats and trips pointed at spiritual
evaluation and growth, and opportunities for service and missions both
in and outside the church.
