Sermon: Luke 22:7-20

Monday, October 9th, 2006

Josh Winans preaches on the last supper narrative from Luke, as Jesus anticipates both His coming sacrifice and His final return in glory, when all will be made right and He will once again share the bread and wine with His disciples. We see clearly that all of history works toward one end, God’s glory, as God the Father will one day give the Church to His Son as His pure bride. May we, too, join in the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Children, Youth Ministry, and the Centrality of the Home

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Rick Schauer e-mailed me about a two part series featured on Family Life Today radio entitled The Home is the Key.  The series features Voddie Baucham who was one of the speakers at the Desiring God Conference several of us were at this last weekend.  Voddie is an old school preacher and quite convicting to listen to.  The series focuses on the value of children and the necessity that parents rather than the church evangelize and disciple them.

I would strongly encourage all- regardless of your place in life- to listen to this two part series (there are several ways to listen to the message in addition to an online transcript).

Supremacy of Christ Conference Report

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Brad Hilton, Josh Winans, Dave Wisner, Drew Clader and myself all attended the Desiring God national conference this last weekend in Minneapolis.  The title of the conference was- “Above All Earthly Powers: The Supremacy of Christ in a Postmodern World.”  It was an excellent conference and proved to be an enriching, refreshing, and challenging time for all of us.

They have already put the audio online here which can be either downloaded for free or listened to online.  I would recommend a single message in particular but it is difficult to pick one (perhaps Keller, perhaps Driscoll, perhaps, Baucham).

Also, if you would rather read summaries of the messages, Tim Challies live blogged the event and does a great job at giving the key parts of the messages.
