Sermon: Luke 22:1-6
And he (Judas) went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them. They were glad and agreed to give him money. So he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him apart from the crowd.
How could a man who had spent three years with Jesus, who had seen Christ heal, teach, raise people from the dead, live day after day without ever uttering a false word or committing any sin — how could Judas after all of those experiences betray Jesus? How could he do anything but love Him and trust Him? The horror of a false disciple, of dead religion, is at the heart of this message. And the power of the gospel shines clearly through it.
